GOLD
Film description:
We created Gold in November 2020. The work was sporadic and full of stops and starts, just like the last 9 months of lockdowns had been before it. A life without physical and social contact felt bleak. I was looking into the forest for some clues about why we live in the city and couldn’t find any. I was interested in why we like to cover ourselves in noise and things and buildings and armour and distractions. I was looking for little moments of beauty.
Bio:
Jocelyn graduated from post-secondary contemporary dance training at The School of Dance in Ottawa in 2012 and soon after moved to London, where she studied a wide variety of both classical and progressive dance techniques from world-renowned choreographers and teachers. Jocelyn was one of three emerging choreographers chosen to be mentored in creation by Peter Boneham in Ottawa in 2015. Later that year she co-founded the creation and presentation platform called Dark Horse Dance Projects, supporting Ottawa and Eastern Ontario's dance artists. Since then she has created and presented her choreographic work at every opportunity in both London and Canada after creating relationships with presenters, schools and collaborating artists in both countries. Jocelyn is working towards several creative projects for the 2021-22 season including a Canada Council for the Arts-supported project which will be presented as part of Series Dance 10/Séries Danse 10 at ODD in Spring 2022
