RUNNING A LITTLE LATE
Film Description:
What's the weirdest excuse you've come up with for being late? Set up as a faux live
stream, Running a Little Late follows the camera girl's hurried journey from the train
station to the stage as she is “late for her appearance”, which quickly unfolds itself into
comically artificial urban realities. She dives deep into the feeling of out-of-place,
alienation, and the urge to scramble off the urban grid and social clock for a moment of
escape. Every “running late“ journey becomes a crevice through the mundane. (Parts of
the footage are generated by the now vintage AI: StyleGAN. )
Bio:
Flo Yuting Zhu continues to seek translations of performance and presence in moving
images, algorithms, and participatory experiences. Her works often observe and question
the urban space, witnessing, and archive-making under censorship, in an attempt to
cross-examine the mundane through a human-data hybrid perspective. She graduated
from Goldsmiths in 2022 with an MFA in Computational Arts. www.floyutingzhu.com
Running time: 5.30 minutes
